DIAROND is the most desirable non-contact measurement system. It can measure outer diameter and roundness on manufacturing and testing lines in cold processes. ■ Past Issues Until now, measuring roundness and flatness could only be done offline by taking samples, and it was not possible to measure inline during continuous production. While it is possible to accurately measure outer diameter and ovality using optical inline measurement devices, measuring the roundness of product shapes was not feasible. ■ Solution The highly precise 3-axis laser head ODAC TRIO performs outer diameter measurements at high frequency, synchronizing each axis every 60°. All measurement values are stored in the USYS IPC processor. To measure the complete product shape, the product must rotate and enter at least 60° or the measurement head itself must have a rotation mechanism. If there is no rotation, it is also possible to obtain evaluation statistical data by manually moving the product. ZUMBACH's STEELMASTER software EPM algorithm can save the analyzed data and calculate related parameters of the product shape.
